family and community engagement grants

The best school leaders and teachers understand their students’ and communities’ unique needs. They work best when given the trust, freedom, flexibility, and support to serve those needs. Active parent and community engagement are essential to establish levers of support for every student.

To aid schools serving all Atlanta Public Schools (APS) students, we launched our Family and Community Engagement Grants (F.A.C.E.). We believe parent and community engagement is one factor that will help advance our mission of every child in every community receiving a great K-12 public education.

What Are the Family and Community Engagement Grants?

  • redefinED atlanta is investing up to $100,000 to launch the Family and Community Engagement Grants. These funds will support schools in being able to establish, build, and strengthen their family and community engagement efforts throughout the 23-24 school year.
  • Eligible schools will be able to apply for up to $10,000 to support their broader family engagement plans for the entire 23-24 school year.
  • We believe supporting your school’s broader family engagement strategy will lead to a more lasting impact with your family engagement efforts and thereby support your efforts to support student outcomes.

Which Schools Are Eligible?

  • Any APS Title 1 school and Title 1 schools serving APS students are eligible to apply for funding.  
  • Eligible schools can apply for up to $10,000 in funding.

How It Works!

  • The application window will open on April 12, 2023, and remain open through May 3, 2023. 
  • This is not a rolling application. 
  • redefinED atlanta will review all applications after May 3, 2023.
  • Schools will be notified of their grant status by May 17, 2023.
  • redefinED atlanta will provide technical support for schools that are awarded funding. This technical support will include planning to support engagement efforts beyond the 23-24 school year.
