Georgia will soon welcome its first healthcare-focused public charter school to help address the state’s healthcare workforce shortage.

The State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia approved the Academy for Innovation in Medicine, a school that will open fall of 2026 with students in grades six and nine. The school plans to eventually expand to serve grades six through 12.

Developed through the Georgia Charter Schools Association’s Charter Incubator program, the academy, called AIM, will partner with Grady Health System to deliver a curriculum that blends rigorous academics, dual-enrollment college credits, and hands-on work-based learning.
