Why Does This Election Matter?
All families deserve an excellent, equitable, and transparent public education system. This isn’t just another election—it’s our chance to shape the future of public education in Atlanta. The APS Board of Education oversees a $1.9 billion budget, making decisions that touch every student, neighborhood, and family:
- Managing the district budget and resources for every school
- Guiding decisions about facilities, rezoning, and long-term investments
- Approving and monitoring the APS Strategic Plan (covering literacy, student well-being, early learning, and more)
- Holding APS accountable for equitable progress across all schools
What's on the Ballot?
- School Board Seats in Districts 2, 4, 6, and At-Large Seat 8
- Priorities that affect your neighborhood:
- Student outcomes
- Economic mobility
- Community safety
- Property values and growth
Who is eligible to vote?
- U.S. citizens who are legal residents of their county and are at least 18 years old by Election Day
- Those not currently serving a felony sentence for a crime involving moral turpitude
- Those not declared mentally incompetent by a judge
