As 2026 will mark 10 years of RedefinED Atlanta, I want to take a moment to share how honored I am to serve as executive director at this critical juncture and how deeply hopeful I am for what lies ahead.

Over the past decade, RedefinED has worked to ensure every student in Metro Atlanta has access to a high-quality K–12 public education. Together with educators, community leaders, and families across the region, we’ve successfully expanded school options, amplified educator voices, and sparked bold conversations about equity and excellence in our schools.

The ultimate goal of our work, however, isn’t growth for growth’s sake. We seek to achieve lasting, systemic improvements—the kind that transforms the educational landscape so profoundly that organizations like ours are no longer needed. That may sound surprising, but it’s rooted in a belief that all students deserve public schools strong enough, equitable enough, and excellent enough to stand fully on their own.

That’s the long-term vision guiding us into our next chapter. This year and beyond, RedefinED will continue to:

Support

great K–12 public schools through funding and advocacy—like our investment in innovative models such as Tapestry Public Charter School in Clayton County and the Morehouse-Grady healthcare career–focused 6–12 school.

Strengthen

educator talent by partnering with groups like TNTP to better understand and improve teacher retention at the school level.

Champion

family and community leadership by deepening our work with our A.R.I.S.E. Fellowship, Clayton County Grant Advisory Council, and district partners across Metro Atlanta.

The latest Georgia Milestones results paint a picture of public schools in progress—revealing both real challenges and real potential. We’re leaning into that potential, collaborating with those closest to the work to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

As we prepare to celebrate this 10-year milestone, we’re not just looking back—we’re building forward. I invite you to explore this new site, engage with our story, and join us in shaping the next decade of public education in Metro Atlanta.
