ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

To inform and support the advancement of organizational goals, the Engagement Manager will identify, cultivate, and strengthen relationships among key K-12 public education stakeholders, community groups, coalitions, and constituents in defined metro Atlanta school districts and communities. The role will support redefinED’s programmatic work of growing an informed and active base of K-12 public education advocates through coalition, voter engagement, and mobilization campaigns. Above all, the Engagement Manager must firmly believe that Atlanta can be a place where every student in every community receives a great K-12 public education. They must be a champion for Atlanta, invested in catalyzing a positive trajectory for students and families facing the deepest inequities and increasing access to great K-12 public schools.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES CRITICAL TO ROLE: 

Asset Mapping & Building

  • Researches, documents, and initiates engagement with key K-12 public education stakeholders in expansion districts and communities
  • Catalogs key services, benefits, and resources within communities in expansion districts

 

Community Engagement

  • Acts as a catalyst and advocate that identifies/elevates issues of importance to key K-12 public education stakeholders (parents/caregivers, students, teachers) and areas of alignment with redefinED atlanta’s mission
  • In partnership with the Director of Public Engagement and Advocacy, engages with community stakeholders to drive awareness about opportunities to improve K-12 public education and garners participation in programs, campaigns, and leadership development to grow an informed and active base of public education advocates – i.e., get out the vote efforts, community convenings, and the ARISE Fellowship
  • Attends community meetings and disseminates outreach materials 

 

Operational Support

  • Supports cross-functional teams with planning and logistics for events and convenings
  • Supports surveying news, social media, partners, and other sources (in person and online) to provide regular updates to the engagement and advocacy team on K-12 public education stakeholder sentiments
  • Maintains records and prepares timely, accurate, and comprehensive reports, invoices, and other materials for grant reporting
  • Other engagement-related duties as assigned

 

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and skills at building relationships and leveraging existing relationships 
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in grassroots organizing, community engagement, education, advocacy, or government relations 
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills 
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and develop grassroots relationships 
  • High level of computer proficiency, particularly with Google Calendar, Gmail, and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Apple products preferred

 

PREFERRED BACKGROUND & WORK EXPERIENCE
While not required, the following skills, experiences, and credentials are welcome:

  • An understanding of metro Atlanta K-12 public education landscape (i.e., attended, graduated, or previously employed by Atlanta Public Schools, Clayton County Public Schools, Cobb County Public Schools, Dekalb County Public Schools, Fulton County Public Schools, or Henry County Public Schools)
  • Familiarity or experience with advocacy software (i.e., Bloomerang, mInsights, Nationbuilder, etc.)
  • Spanish-language proficiency

  • Ability to manage with less-than-perfect information and limited resources 
  • A self-motivated individual, confident in their skills and comfortable working in an autonomous environment


REPORTING

The Engagement Manager will report to Adah Pittman-Delancey, Vice President of Impact and External Relations.


COMPENSATION 

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 and includes full benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience and consists of a base salary and complete benefits package.
