redefinED atlanta Announces $150,000 in New Grants Determined by Community Members

In 2022, redefinED atlanta launched the Atlanta Reimagining and Innovating for Schools Everywhere (A.R.I.S.E.) Fellowship. Fellows come from every sector across Metro Atlanta to become more informed and active public education advocates. At the end of their nine-month fellowship, fellows present a capstone project about an organization they think should receive the A.R.I.S.E. Parent Power grant. A panel of judges, composed of A.R.I.S.E. alumni, uses these presentations and applications submitted by the nominated organizations to determine who receives each $50,000 grant.

redefinED atlanta is proud to announce the three organizations that will receive the A.R.I.S.E. Parent Power grant:

  1. Kendall Rae’s Green Heart – Kool Kids Grow with Kendall Rae
A youth-led organization based in Fulton County that uses urban agriculture to equip Black students and families with tools to combat food insecurity, while nurturing leadership, creativity, and resilience.
  2. Raising Expectations – Raising Resilience: Youth Strength-building Through Family Support
Serving primarily students in the Westside of Atlanta and focused on students in Project DREAM and Project STEMWARE, this initiative centers two-gen strategies to meaningfully engage families in their child’s academic journey and long-term success.
  3. Sheltering Arms – Parent Leadership Organization (PLO)
This Metro Atlanta nonprofit aims to strengthen community advocacy by empowering parents to lead both within their early education centers and community, especially in Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties.

These three organizations will receive funds to implement proposed initiatives from July 2025 through June 2026. We are excited to support impactful initiatives that will empower parents, strengthen advocacy, and create lasting change for students and families.
