The Georgia Milestones is an annual assessment for students in public schools. It measures how students have learned English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies based on state standards. The results, released annually around back-to-school time, inform us about how public schools in Georgia are serving students. We review and summarize the data each year to make it easier for more people to understand.
We know every student, and every community has unique needs. The best school leaders and teachers can address students’ needs when given the trust, freedom, flexibility, and support to make the necessary changes for their students. It takes informed and active community members providing support and sharing recommendations with schools, the district, and elected officials for every student to receive a great K-12 public education.
